I was born on the 17th June 2000 in Mampong &#8211; Ashanti. I come from Wadie-Adwumakase in the Ashanti Region.<\/p>\n<p>My life with diabetes started around December 2015. I was 15 years old. My mother travelled to Kumasi to visit her sister who gave birth. Due to her absence, I was sleeping with my father. My father Mr. Addai Charles started detecting that I was urinating and drinking water frequently at night which made him suspicious. One night he tasted my urine and found out there was sugar in it which got him worried. The next day he sent me to a hospital in Mampong &#8211; Ashanti. I was diagnosed and told by the doctor I have diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>I was admitted and my sugar level at that day was 26.7mml\/l. I was referred by the doctor to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital child\u2019s unit in which I was referred to as specialist.<\/p>\n<p>The specialist started treating me which I was made to run several tests like eye test and meet nutritionists. I was then put on insulin and was advised by the doctor to stop eating foods containing sugar. I cam back home and was taking my medications with the help of my father. As a child I wouldn\u2019t have been consistent with my medications but my father was always ensuring I take them.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, I was visiting the specialist once a month. I was given insulin and a glucometer, which really helped me a lot.<\/p>\n<p>After some months of taking my medications seriously we detected my sugar level was gradually declining. As I am writing my sugar level is around 6-6.8 mml\/l.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>My Life With Diabetes Owusu Christian is my name.
