None of us want to lose it. And I have given my life great value. But the biggest challenge for me is my illness. It\u2019s type 01 diabetes. I have been suffering from this since I was 6 years old and I am now a slave. I\u2019m preparing to sit this year\u2019s (O\/L) exam. I&#8217;m more interested in managing my disease than exams. Because what you have to do is stay alive. I have been receiving great support for school teachers and friends for this disease. I sometimes get fed up with the fact that they sometimes serve up a tasty treat. But I\u2019m not worried. I can control these thoughts. I also take part in extracurricular activities and sports. It was a pleasure for me. I think I\u2019m just a normal kid like all the other kids.<\/p>\n<p>What is diabetes? Diabetes is a disease that occurs when my blood glucose, also called bloody sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is my main source of energy and comes from the food I eat. All of us have different types of diabetes. There are three main types of diabetes. They are type 01, type 02 and type 03. I&#8217;m a type 01 diabetes patient.<\/p>\n<p>Type 01 diabetes can develop at any age, but occurs most frequently in children. Type 02 diabetes is more common in adults and accounts for around 90% of all diabetes cases. Type 03 diabetes is a proposed term for Alzheimer\u2019s disease resulting from insulin resistance and insulin deficiency. The categorization is not embraced by the medical community. A limited number of published reviews have suggested mechanisms linking Alzheimer\u2019s and insulin resistance.<\/p>\n<p>Controlling blood sugar levels is the major goal of diabetes treatment in order to prevent complications of the disease. Type 01 diabetes is managed with insulin as well as dietary changes and exercise. Type 02 diabetes may be managed with non-insulin medications, insulin, weight reduction or dietary changes. Insulin is first used in the treatment of diabetes. It is a hormone. It\u2019s made by the pancreas. My body does not make insulin. This is a problem because I need insulin to take the sugar from the foods I eat and turn it into energy for my body.<\/p>\n<p>Physical activity is another important part of my diabetes management plan. When I exercise, my muscles use sugar for energy. Regular physical activity also helps my body use insulin more efficiently. I can eat fatty fish and leafy greens. Fatty fish is one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Leafy greens and vegetables are extremely nutritious and low in calories. Some of them I eat cinnamon, eggs, chia seeds, turmeric, Greek yogurt and nuts etc.<\/p>\n<p>Treatment for type 01 diabetes includes: Taking insulin, carbohydrate, fat and protein counting, frequent blood sugar monitoring, eating healthy foods, exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy weight. January 11th 1922 is a very important and special day for diabetes patients because the day is the history of diabetes.<\/p>\n<p>My wish is to go ahead succeeding the challenges and education process.
